TEFAF Maastricht is just around the corner! From March 15 to 20, 2025, the world’s most prestigious art fair will once again bring together collectsors, connoisseurs, and art lovers in the heart of Maastricht. As part of this exceptional event, specially curated shopping routes are already prepared and available, guiding visitors through the city’s most exclusive boutiques — including Etoile Luxury Vintage. These routes will be open for exploration until March 27, offering a unique opportunity to discover hidden gems beyond the fair itself.
At Etoile Luxury Vintage, we’ve created a breathtaking display window to showcase an extraordinary collectsion — rare Louis Vuitton handbags designed in collaboration with the iconic Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. This collectsion is a celebration of art, fashion, and playful elegance, featuring vibrant designs that have become timeless icons in the world of vintage luxury.

A Collaboration That Defined an Era
When Louis Vuitton first teamed up with Takashi Murakami in 2003, it marked a significant moment in the fashion world. Under the creative direction of Marc Jacobs, Murakami reimagined the classic LV monogram, infusing it with his signature kawaii aesthetics and pop-art influences. The result? Some of the most sought-after and collectsible handbags ever created.
Iconic Pieces from the Louis Vuitton x Murakami Collaboration
Monogram Multicolore (2003)
Possibly the most famous result of the collaboration, this collectsion redefined the Louis Vuitton monogram. Murakami introduced a vibrant palette of 33 colors, printed on either a black or white canvas, adding a youthful and contemporary touch to the brand’s heritage. The Multicolore collectsion included various handbag models, with the Speedy 30 and Pochette Accessoires becoming cult favorites. This line remained in production for over a decade before being discontinued in 2015, making these pieces highly sought-after today.
Cherry Blossom (2003)
Murakami brought a touch of femininity to Louis Vuitton’s classic monogram with delicate cherry blossoms, each featuring a charming smiling face. The playful contrast of soft pink flowers against the monogram canvas gave these bags a truly unique aesthetic. Limited in production, they became instant collectsor’s items. The Papillon bag from this collectsion remains one of the most beloved designs.
Panda (2004)
This niche yet beloved design showcased Murakami’s Japanese pop-art roots, featuring a cartoonish black-and-white panda placed over Louis Vuitton’s classic Monogram Multicolore monogram. The design reflected Murakami’s signature anime-style illustrations, making it a standout in the collaboration. The Pochette and Keepall bags from this line remain rare finds today.
Cerises (2005)
Another playful and artistic design, the Cerises (Cherry) collectsion featured vibrant red cherries with smiling faces, scattered across the monogram canvas. The mix of classic luxury with Murakami’s signature humor made this collectsion particularly unique. Due to its limited production, bags from this line, including the Speedy and Sac Plat, are now considered highly collectsible.

Monogramouflage (2008)
Designed exclusively for Murakami’s Brooklyn Museum exhibition, this special edition merged Louis Vuitton’s heritage monogram with a military camouflage pattern. The result was a bold and edgy aesthetic, perfect for those who appreciate unconventional luxury. The Keepall and Treillis bags from this collectsion stand out as rare statement pieces.
Cosmic Blossom (2010)
Murakami’s famous smiling flowers took center stage in this vibrant and joyful collectsion. The bags featured bright, neon colors that made them pop, offering a fresh and youthful take on the Louis Vuitton aesthetic. The Neverfull and Pochette bags from this collectsion remain collectsor favorites.
